Ascott Fashion and Styling | A Summer edit by Jassydarling
Your Ultimate Summer Styling Guide for the Royal Ascot and Epsom Races
Summer is the perfect season to indulge in the grandeur and excitement of the Ascot and Epsom races. With the prestigious events on the horizon, it's time to curate a wardrobe that aligns with the "daytime formal" dress code, allowing for elegant headpieces like fascinators and gloves. For more detailed dress code guidelines, visit [Ascot Races Dressing Guide] and for tickets, check out [Ascot Tickets] and [Epsom Tickets].
Floral Midi Dress
A floral midi dress is a timeless addition to your wardrobe. The Hobbs Silk Floral Petite Midi Dress is a perfect choice, offering a balance of comfort and elegance. Its light fabric and pastel blooms make it ideal for summer outings. I still remember the first time I wore a floral midi dress to Ascot – the compliments never stopped, and the dress swayed beautifully with each step.
Linen Blazer
A beige or pastel linen blazer can add a touch of sophistication to your garden look. The Mango Linen Blazer [cropped version for petite ladies] is an excellent option, combining style and sustainability with its eco-friendly fabric. There's something about a well-fitted blazer that makes you feel ready to conquer the world – or at least the racecourse.
Wide-Leg Trousers
For those who prefer pants, wide-leg trousers in a neutral tone offer both comfort and elegance. The River Island Pleated Cream Wide Leg Pants are perfect for pairing with floral tops or blouses.
Wearing these wide-leg trousers are a chic casual to formal magical piece, a true-must-have!This piece is every wardrobe's life-changing staple to have – comfortable enough for the long day, yet stylish enough to stand out in the crowd.
Floral Blouse
A floral blouse can be dressed up or down, making it a versatile piece for your summer wardrobe. The Hobbs Floral Top/ Ted Baker Floral Top/ & Other Stories Floral Ruffles Frills Top features delicate blooms that are both chic and timeless. It's my go-to for those days when I want to feel effortlessly put together – and it pairs beautifully with just about anything.
Tips for a Stylish and Enjoyable Race Day
Elegance and Comfort
Choose outfits that not only look stunning but are comfortable for a day of socialising and standing.
Accessorise Smartly
A fascinator or elegant hat can highlight and elevate your outfit, while gloves add a touch of classic sophistication.
I always feel a bit like royalty when I wear a pink fascinator – it's a small piece that makes a big statement.
Footwear:
Opt for stylish yet comfortable shoes, as you'll be on your feet for much of the day, unless you just plan to sit and watch races. I highly recommend exploring the tents , having a stroll in the gardens and enjoy floral display. I've learned the hard way that a day at the races/ gardens is not the time to break in new heels!
Weather Preparedness:
Bring a stylish umbrella or a light shawl for unpredictable weather. A shawl saved me from a surprise drizzle one year – and ended up being a chic addition to my outfit.
Race Day Etiquette and Enjoyment
[How to Act] Embrace the lively atmosphere with courteous and enthusiastic cheering.
[What to Look Out FOR]
Keep an eye on the race schedule and note the marquee races and events. Check the [Ascot Schedule]and [Epsom Schedule] for more details.
[Cheering Tip] Cheer for your favourite horses and jockeys with decorum, WITH SPIRITED CLAPS, enjoying the camaraderie with fellow attendees. BE SURE TO GOOGLE A FAVOURITE HORSE TO SUPPORT BEFORE GOING DOWN.
There's nothing quite like the thrill of cheering your horse to the finish line with a group of newFOUND friends.
